Bobby Valentine
Robert John Valentine
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 189 lbs.
Born: May 13, 1950 in Stamford, CT
Drafted: 1st round 1968 by the Los Angeles Dodgers
Acquired: traded from the San Diego Padres with Paul Siebert for
Dave Kingman, June 1977
Departed: released, March 1979
A fine prospect for the Dodgers but a serious injury caused him to
miss out on the stardom predicted for him. Got his measure of fame back,
though, by being the charismatic field leader of the 2000 National League
Champions. Pictured here is his 1972 Topps card, and below is a 2000 Newark
Star-Ledger "card" commemorating the NL Championship team, along with
ten other cards.
