Acquired: as a free agent, April 2009

 

Released by the Tigers at the end of Spring Training 2009 and quickly signed by the Mets. His first home run for the Mets--a game-tying, pinch-hit blast--made Gary a member of the 500 Home Run Club, only the 25th in MLB history. He was leading the club in home runs at the All-Star Break in 2009, but didn’t hit another one the rest of the year. He's pictured here on 1999 Flair Showcase, and on many more cards below.
