Tim Leary

Timothy James Leary
Batted: Right
Threw: Right
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 205 lbs.
Born: December 23, 1958 in Santa Monica, CA
Drafted: 1st round 1979 by the Mets
Departed: traded to the Milwaukee Brewers as part of a four-team trade, January 1985; the Texas Rangers sent Danny Darwin and a player to be named later (Bill Nance) to the Brewers; the Brewers sent Jim Sundberg to the Kansas City Royals; the Royals sent Don Slaught to the Rangers and Frank Wills to the Mets

Tim was the great hope of the Met pitching staff in 1981 when he made his first major-league start. He tossed two superb innings (hitless with three strikeouts), injured his arm, and wasn't seen again in the big leagues for almost two years. He went on to have a serviceable career with several clubs, but never achieved the heights that had been hoped for him. For a picture of what his potential was, look at his 1988 season with the Dodgers, and imagine 15 years of that. He's pictured here on his Score card from that year; more cards appear below.
