"Shortly after Harry Chiti was obtained by the Mets, he went to Stengel during an airplane trip and asked for permission to start a gin-rummy game. Stengel said no. He suggested that if Chiti, a catcher, had nothing to do he might go over the opposition hitters. Chiti went to sleep."
