I heard a story once where Warren Spahn was pitching to Yogi Berra on the 1965 Mets, and a writer asked Yogi if he thought they were the oldest battery ever. Yogi reportedly said, "I don't know if we're the oldest, but we're sure the ugliest." Whether that's a true story or not, Yogi is certainly one of the central figures in the entire history of New York baseball, winning the MVP award three times for the Yankees, and guiding both the Yanks and the Mets to the World Series as a manager.
